PACKERDRAFT 2010 MOCK DRAFT

Jerry Gilbert 12/17/2009
This is my first mock Draft for the Green Bay Packers looking ahead to the 2010 NFL Draft. As of this time, neither draft position nor choices of underclassmen have been settled. Every pick is therefore subject to change at any time.

ROUND 1 Bryan Bulaga 6'6 313 OT Iowa Junior

Brian Bulaga started at left tackle for the Hawkeyes as a freshman and, except when he has been injured, Bulaga has been a force at the position ever since. Bulaga is a junior not yet declared for the draft. If he does, he could drop to the bottom of the first round because of a junior year hampered by a thyroid condition. The Packers may appreciate that he still played at a high level when at less than full strength. He definitely has talent and probably the motivation to become even better as a pro.

ROUND 2 Nate Allen 6'2 206 FS South Florida

Nate Allen has good size and speed and is one of those players who is always around the ball. He led his team as a senior in tackles, passes broken up and interceptions. For his career, he has returned an interception, a fumble and a blocked kick for a touchdown.

Round 3 Crezdon Butler 6'0 185 CB Clemson

With adequate size and a forty time under 4.4, Crezdon Butler has the measureables to be a quality NFL cornerback. Add in four years playing corner back in a tough conference and a significant total of in interceptions, and passes broken up. He is second all time in interception return yardage at Clemson.

Round 4 Zane Beadles 6-4 305 OT Utah

Zane Beadles was a four-year starter mostly at left tackle. A good candidate to play guard or tackle on a zone blocking team, Beadles is an accomplished cut blocker. He was graded as winning 88% against his 2009 opponents and was chosen second team all American.

Round 5 Lamarcus Coker 5-10 195 RB Hampton

With teams looking for the next Chris Johnson, Lamarcus Coker is a value pick at this spot. He clearly has NCAA talent. This small school back was the talk of the league in his freshman year at Tennessee. Immaturity and some bad decisions ended his SEC career, but he appears to have found himself at Hampton. At the post season East Coast Bowl all Star Game, Coker was MVP based on of 204 yards and 3 touchdowns with only 12 carries. The kid is a game breaker at that level.

Round 6 Korey Peters 6-3 295 DT Kentucky

A pass rushing interior lineman in college, Korey Peters may have the skills to play defensive end in the 3-4. Twice honored as SEC Defensive Lineman of the week and named second team all conference in 2009, Peters totaled 4 sacks and 11 tackles for loss and 5 pass break ups.

Round 7 Zoltan Mesko, 6-5 236 P Michigan

Zoltan Mesko was the All Big Ten Punter this season. Because of an under performing Michigan offense Mesko punted often and also punted well, averaging an all time Michigan record 44.5 yards per kick. At his size, he may also be able to make an occasional tackle for the coverage unit.
